南方種で関東ではかつては見られなかった大きなジャノメチョウ。
森林性で薄暮時に活発に飛び回る。
夜間林縁の生垣で眠っていた。
分布：本州、四国、九州

成虫出現月：3〜11（成虫越冬）
寄主植物：ススキ、ジュズダマ、ヨシなどイネ科
